Perry was a Senior Pastor for twelve years before retiring to go into full time writing. He spent an insurmountable amount of time in hospitals praying for the sick and shut in. Perry felt that with prayer, and specifically if he prayed, the healing anointing that he had would transfer to the person. Perry believed if he laid hands on them, they would recover. In addition, he is married to a doctor who likewise spends more than half of her life caring for the sick

Why God? Why? Why did this person get completely healed and the other person die? Why after years of doctors and years of praying, did this person lose their grip on life?
These questions led Perry to extensively study each person, case, or patient that he encountered. During this 12-year study, he began doing a comparative analysis between the ones healed and the ones not. “As I was studying the patients, I also began to look to the Bible for answers as I always do”. Says Perry.
“What was the secret ingredient to healing? What was I missing? Was I not praying right? I even examined my own life. Before I prayed for people. I needed to ensure that my life was in order with the purpose of God”. Perry began exhaustively studying Jesus and the people he healed. “I was looking for a pattern that I could mimic and imitate. This way I could increase the rate of success in the people I prayed for”.
This is when it hit HIM.
He discovered that healing is “A 3-man team”. (1) Doctors, (2) God, (3) Self. The overwhelming majority of the patience healed did not just rely on the Doctors. Sickness and disease are a never-ending struggle for everyone in life. Sickness will touch us all, either personally or through a loved one. Everyone will face a season in life when they deal with it. by "sickness" we mean more than just physical illness. Sickness comes in many facets. One can be in excellent physical health but suffer from mental illness. Another could be physically and mentally healthy but suffer from emotional sickness.

The fact that some people believe only God can heal through prayer. Others believe only doctors can heal. Yet still others believe people need both prayer and doctors. This book will explore the role of a third party needed in the healing team. “SELF.” That’s right, healing is a team effort and requires a third person to play an active role in the process.
8. What do you want readers to take away from your writing?
That although you may not have caused your sickness, you must take part in your healing. This book will teach you how to do that.
9. How did you learn about the topic? (i.e. personal experience, education, etc.)
Both my son and mother had to undergo chemotherapy. My son lived. My mom did not. This led to questioning God. I learned that God can handle our tough questions. He gave me answers through this book.
