My Part - Introduction

Sickness and disease are a never-ending struggle for everyone in life. Sickness will touch us all, either personally or through a loved one. Everyone will face a season in life when they deal with it. First, for the record, by "sickness" we mean more than just physical illness. Sickness comes in many facets. One can be in excellent physical health but suffer from mental illness. Another could be physically and mentally healthy but suffer from emotional sickness. While some seem to cope with being sick better than others, the
reality is that others must endure sickness and disease for a longer duration. I mean a lot longer. Why do some receive their healing a lot faster than others? Why is it that some never receive healing and seem to suffer for life even unto death? Why does some medicine work for some and not for others? Not everyone dies of cancer. Not everyone dies of HIV. Some actually heal from a sickness and disease that has caused many to die from. Could there possibly be a set of unique characteristics and traits in one's life that healed them and caused them to escape death? If a certain string of traits exists, can I change my life to gain them? And by acquiring them, speed up my healing and avoid death?

We will explore this in the book. Once again, I am not simply referring to physical death. Mental, emotional, and spiritual death can be more debilitating than physical death.
Here is another fact about healing. Doctors and medicine can only go so far. To heal completely, even the doctors say, a higher power must be at work. Many call it Heaven’s Helper. Doctor Ben Carson is a pioneer in neurosurgery. He performed the only successful separation of conjoined twins joined at the back of the head. Carson also pioneered the first successful neurosurgical procedure on a fetus inside the womb. Carson also performed the first successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins. He developed new methods to treat brain-stem tumors. Ben Carson writes in his book “My Life.” After explaining the risk of the surgery to the family and after the family approves the complicated risking potentially fatal surgery, I then say, “Now I have a homework assignment for you.” I give this to every patient and family member before surgery, says Carson. “Say your prayers, I think that really does help.” While I stay away from religious discussion with parents, I like to remind them of God’s loving presence. The night before every surgery I pray, “God,” “If __________ dies, he or she dies but we’ll know that we’ve done the best we could for him or her.” With that thought Carson says, “I have peace and go to sleep knowing this patience’s life is in my hands, but I take comfort in knowing that the Lord would never get me into something he couldn’t get me out of.”

Some people believe only God can heal through prayer. Others believe only doctors can heal. Yet still others believe people need both prayer and doctors. This book will explore the role of a third party needed in the healing team. “SELF.” That’s right, healing is a team effort and requires a third person to play an active role in the process. Not only does healing require all three to be actively involved, but like any team, all three must be at their best. Imagine a three-man Olympic team. Only two prepared and gave 100%. The third slacked off before and during the competition. Would it be fair to say that a gold medal would be out of the question? A silver or bronze, for that matter, would be as well. The same is true for healing. The doctor needs to do his part and be his best. God needs to do his part and be at his best, and you need to do your part and be at your best. It's unfair to demand the best from every doctor and from God. Yet, you knowingly or unknowingly fail to do your part.

Well, what is my part? What am I to do? I did not ask for this! This sickness just came upon me. Well, although you may not have caused your sickness, you must take part in your healing. We will explore the 29 individual healings in the Bible. Although it is thought that several thousand individuals may have experienced healing, these authors focused on and documented particular information about 29 cases in detail. The Bible states, frequently, that a multitude of people came to Jesus for healing. All were healed.

Matthew 15:30 KJV says, "And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet, and he healed them ALL."

Matthew 4:24 NKJV "Then his fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon- possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them all."

Now I am not sure how many constitute a multitude, but some believe it is thousands. Others believe tens of thousands, and yet some even say the number is in the millions. The bottom line is that so many were healed that it was a number that no man can count. Not only were they healed, but they were healed completely. All of them. Not just some — But every single one. For some reason, among the vast number of healings, 29 of them were specifically highlighted. The Almighty most high God decided to go into details of the events surrounding the healings. That’s strange. What is significant about these 29? Why were these highlighted and singled out? What makes these 29 more distinctive
than the others? Is there something that God wants us to know about these? Is there something we should learn from these? It is as if these 29 are in the proverbial Healing Hall of Fame. Well, the answer to these questions is yes, yes, yes, and yes. There is something that God wants us to know about these 29. There is something we should learn from these. These 29 people demonstrated actions and character traits worth mimicking. Why? Because their actions clearly caused an able God to become more willing to heal them or their loved ones.

We will explore and unearth the deep hidden nuggets. We will also extrapolate the concealed secret messages that are in each of these 29 healings. By doing so, you will discover that these people actually played a key role in the healing process. This key essential role actually caused and warranted them to be candidates for healing. What did they do? What did they say? What was their character like? Did they say something like hocus pocus? Did they do a special Dance? Well, the answer to the above questions is yes and No. Yes, they did something and yes, they displayed a certain character. No, they did not say something like hocus pocus because there is no magic trick to healing. No, they did not do a special dance. Why? Because there are no mystical, weird, bizarre, uncanny actions or activities one must do, to be healed. You will learn that these 29 displayed simple, average, human traits.

Any human can do or have them. The sad news is that many of us lack traits in several areas and this lack may be delaying our healing process. Oh, but the good news is you can fix these errors as you read each story. Doing so will increase the likelihood of speeding up your healing. Then by the end of this book, it is believed that you may double or even triple the healing process of your life. If and only if you adopt these principles and make them a part of your life. In fact, some of you may be fully healed by the end of this reading.
